Meet Bev
Bev’s journey is as rich and inspiring as the flavors of her cooking. A proud member of the Windrush generation, Bev first settled in the Midlands after arriving in the UK before making Cornwall her home. For over three decades, she has been a beacon of love and community, known for her warm heart, incredible food, and tireless dedication to bringing people together.
Her impact extends far beyond the kitchen. As a foster carer and community leader, Bev has touched countless lives with her kindness and generosity. She also uses her deep knowledge of African Caribbean history to educate and inspire others, visiting schools to share stories and lessons that break down barriers of racism and promote cultural understanding. Beverley has even been featured in Black History Month Magazine and presented at Exeter University, sharing her insights on the topic of “Beyond Black History Month.

Beverley’s passion for unity led her to establish a community initiative that works with social groups and organizations across the UK. Through this platform, she has brought people of all backgrounds together, celebrating diversity while fostering inclusivity and mutual respect.
Her culinary talent has always been at the heart of her efforts. Bev’s food has become a beloved staple at community events, celebrated for its ability to bring people together in joy and fellowship. With overwhelming demand from those who love her cooking, Bev has now created CocoBean Cafe—a hub café where her food, and her vision of unity, can be shared every day.
